Meet Dana DeAngelis: Our Cidermaker Shining at SheBrew!

As part of this year’s SheBrew, we’re proud to spotlight one of the talented makers behind the magic at Portland Cider Company: Dana DeAngelis!

Dana’s path to cider wasn’t exactly traditional. A former teacher, she realized she was ready for a change when she saw people working at a cidery who genuinely loved what they did. That spark turned into a revelation, and eventually, a career. The rest is (delicious) history.

Get to know Dana a little better as she shares more about her cider journey, favorite pairings, and what SheBrew means to her:

Q&A With Dana:

Q: What’s your cider maker origin story in one sentence?
A: I was a teacher and hated it, but I saw people working in a cidery, and they looked like they loved their job! It was a revelation for me!

Q: What part of the cider-making process do you enjoy the most, and why?
A: I really love pitching yeast! Yeast is an amazing organism, and I take great care when we wake it up to get a batch going.

Q: What’s your go-to cider and food pairing?
A: Cider goes great with just about everything, but my favorite pairing is a great smash burger. It cuts through the richness of the meat and cheese with its light acidity.

Q: Favorite Portland Cider? All-time favorite cider?
A: My favorite Portland Cider Company cider is Island Daiquiri. My first favorite was one called Cherry Pie.

Q: What does being part of SheBrew mean to you?
A: I am so grateful to be a part of SheBrew. Portland has some iconic women makers, and it is a true honor to be among them.

Q: Describe your SheBrew cider in three words.
A: Lovely lemony lavender.

We’ll see you at SheBrew! Raising a glass to women in craft beverage and the incredible community behind it. 🍻✨
