Portland Cider Takes Historic Win at the 2025 World Beer Cup

World Beer Cup Winners

For the first time in its nearly 30-year history, the World Beer Cup—one of the largest and most prestigious beer competitions in the world—opened its doors to cider. And Portland Cider Co. made an impressive entrance!

That’s not just a win for us—it’s a win for Oregon cider.

In total, Oregon cideries brought home 9 of the 15 total cider awards, a powerful statement about our state’s leadership in the industry. To be recognized at this level, in the competition’s inaugural cider year, is both an honor and a milestone.

Original Gold, our best-selling semi-sweet cider, is among the most-awarded ciders—if not THE most-awarded cider—in the U.S. Its clean, crisp finish and hint of natural sweetness make it an easy favorite for newcomers and longtime cider fans alike.

English Pub, on the other hand, channels the rich, dry character of classic British-style ciders. It’s bold, structured, and full of tannic depth, thanks to carefully chosen bittersweet cider apples. This one is a longtime favorite of our own cider makers.

Oregon’s showing in the World Beer Cup proves that our local cideries are worthy of the global stage. And it’s evidence that cider is ready for its place in the craft beverage spotlight. Cheers to that!
