Portland Cider Co. joins Oregon Brewshed Alliance

We're excited to announce that Portland Cider Co. has joined the Oregon Brewshed Alliance as the first cidery of the coalition. An outreach initiative of Oregon Wild, the Oregon Brewshed® Alliance is a coalition of Oregon brewers, brewing community partners, and conservationists who understand the value of clean water and protected forest watersheds.

For breweries the connection is clear - 90% (or more) of beer is made from water, so that water should be clean. While Portland Cider Co. ciders do not have any water in them (just 100% apple juice), clean and accessible water is still crucial to the process of making cider. Not because of what we use in our cidery, but because of what the farmers need out in Yakima Valley.

Because of this, Portland Cider Company is proud to be supporting this alliance and the Oregon Wild organization as a whole. Oregon Wild works to protect and restore Oregon’s wildlands, wildlife and waters as an enduring legacy for all Oregonians, and that's a mission we can't help but get behind.

In honor of this new partnership, we are planning a fundraiser this fall, where the proceeds will be donated to Oregon Wild. More details to come, but it's got to do with apples, with pressing, and with a whole lot of community support. More soon - cheers!
