portland backyard apple & fruit drive

fruit forward — community cider to feed the hungry

Portland Cider Company is coordinating our 4th annual Community Cider, made with 100% recycled Backyard Apples from the amazing people in the Portland Metro area. We once again call upon the Portland community for backyard apples to hand-press into a community cider to support a local charity. But this year we’re encouraging folks to bring more than just your apples! All backyard fruits & berries are encouraged. Last year’s cider included lots of wild foraged blackberries & backyard pears, which elevated the cider to a whole new level. And made it our most successful fundraiser to date!

We're collecting bushels of unwanted fruit July 29 thru September 28, with drop-off at our Clackamas Taproom + Cidery.

This full-scale community effort is about bringing people together to create handmade craft cider, using the fruits from our own backyards here in the Portland Metro area, while reducing waste with this unique Apple Recycling program & giving back to a local non-profit. Bringing together cider, community, sustainability, tradition and charity in Portland Cider Company’s Community Cider annual release.

For 2019, Portland Cider is excited to partner with Hunger Free Oregon, an an organization committed to actively working to end hunger by connecting people to food and nutrition programs, raising awareness about hunger, and advocating for systemic changes. We’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds to benefit Hunger-Free Schools, which works to ensure students of all ages and levels have enough to eat.

100% of the net proceeds of the cider sales will be donated to Hunger Free Oregon

We invite you to recycle your apples, not throw them away! Bring us your fallen and unwanted fruit in exchange for Portland Cider trade. And when the time comes, you also get to help with the pressing of the apples you brought in! Details below.
